(Advise + a little rant)
Hey, I love Karofsky (as in, I think he’s a great, interesting character) and the Pirates are all super lovely. So me not shipping Kurtofsky has nothing to do with that.
Karofsky needs to redeem himself. And he needs to accept himself, and to get eventual acceptance also from others. And I think that his character, and by the way he’s acting now, needs a good while for this to happen. Karofsky is deep in the closet. He has a lot of self loathing. I don’t think his character needs a boyfriend great. And while him accepting himself and finally coming out quite far away, him getting an actual boyfriend and managing to walk down the halls hand in hand with a guy is even further away. It’s not just 5/10 episodes and then everything is okay. This storyline is so great, and it CAN’T be rushed, because then it will be ruined.
This is all without even mentioning Kurt. Now, Chris has said himself that he doesn’t think it should happen because it’s not a good message to send, and I can see where he’s coming from, because he’s been bullied himself and knows how painful it is, and he knows what he’s talking about. I can also see your side of it. That redemption would be a good thing to show in this case. But I think Kurt would have a hard time forgiving him.
Remember, Karofsky is the guy who gave Kurt hell for several years. And then he terrified him by kissing him (although Karofsky had no ill intentions with it), and then threatened with killing him if he told anyone. I don’t think Karofsky was very serious with this, but it really scared Kurt. It made Kurt feel terrible. And for Kurt to trust Karofsky enough to let him touch him, to hold his hand, to kiss him and put himself in any vulnerable positions.. Well, I just think that it would take a long time. Just Kurt forgiving Karofsky and befriending him would be hard, I think.
So yes, it could happen. But it couldn’t be done in season 2, maybe not even in season 3 because it’s a really long processes. And if it’s rushed it would completely ruin it, and that can’t happen, because Karofsky’s storyline is a very important one to show.
Karofsky’s character doesn’t need to have a boyfriend to have a good storyline and an important message, and giving him a boyfriend could be rushed and it would be risking this whole plot.
I hope you don’t take this as hate, because it’s really not meant like it. But I just thought I’d give you my thoughts on the matter, and I hope you can see where I’m coming from. :)

Before I say anything, I just want to say I have absolutely NOTHING against straight people shipping gay couples. Regardless of whether I agree with the pairing or not, it warms my heart a little bit that we have such strong allies and that there are straight people who care enough about a gay couple that they would fight so hard for their pairing. Truly.
That being said, I don’t really care what you ship, but the de-gaying of a character is not something that should be joked about or taken so lightly. It’s actually a really big deal and I have been seeing this constantly since I started shipping Kum coming from Klainers/Quamers/Others.
I understand that you are a straight girl who just wants to see two guys being cute and making out and that’s fine, more power to you, but in case you didn’t notice the LGBT are engaged in a Culture War right now, one that has been going on for 40 years and probably will still be going on for another 40 years. Homosexuality is still illegal in 70 countries, 7 of which have the DEATH PENALTY as punishment for it. Equal rights for LGBT exist in 10 countries. 10 countries out of 195.I know Glee is just a tv show, and Sam Evans is just a character on a tv show. But EVERY. SINGLE. GAY. CHARACTER. on a tv show is extremely important in making sure that gay people receive the rights that they deserve. Many people’s only impression of gay people come from television and the bigger the show, the more major the character, the more likely that at least one person will change their minds about gay people. I have read countless stories where this is the case, including many about Kurt Hummel. So yes, it does matter. Every person that changes their minds about gay people makes it less likely that a gay person will get bullied in school, will get fired from their job for being who they are, will get the shit beaten out of them for holding hands with their boyfriend, will get kick out by their parents for being gay, etc. And every person who changes their minds is one less person who will vote against important LGBT Civil Rights legislation.
Even more important than all that however, is every single gay character has the potential to be a gay kid out there’s role model, someone they can look up to and see themselves in. Someone who will stop them from killing themselves or running away because they can see that there ARE people like them out there and people who will accept them for who they are. I am only 20 years old, but already there are a lot more gay characters then when I was a first discovering that I was gay and I know that the gay characters I did see (Willow from BtVS, Jack from Dawson’s Creek) really helped me realize I wasn’t a freak and there were other people like me and people who will accept me outside of rural Tennessee. I relate a lot to Sam Evans and he would have made my younger teen years SO much easier.
Now, OBVIOUSLY I don’t believe that they de-gayed Sam Evans. I am pretty much a Kum stan if you haven’t noticed by now. BUT if they did, I will legit stop watching this show as much as I love it. It’s why I stopped watching Rescue Me, The O.C., and gave up on Gossip Girl when I realized that they weren’t going to go there with Chuck or Dan. Glee is already doing amazing things for the LGBT community, but if they de-gayed Sam Evans so that Quinn could have a THIRD love interest or because one of the three originally new gay characters was so popular that they just made it two, I don’t really think I could watch it anymore. Kum is something I ship for personal preferences, but Sam/Gay is something I ship for the bigger picture, one that goes beyond Glee.You can think that they did de-gay Sam Evans all you want to or think he is gay/bi and just not right for Kurt, we can debate about that and that’s fine with me, but don’t be happy that you think Sam is straight now, recognize it for what it is. When a character is de-gayed you lose that chance to change homophobes minds and you lose that chance for a gay kid to see a character who s/he can relate to that will help them get through the hell that is middle school and high school on a gay kid. And that is nothing to joke about.

Now I don’t know if they HAVE de-gayed Sam or not, but I agree with this. Every gay character being put on a TV-screen helps someone. And I also believe every gay relationship helps, be it Klaine, Kum or Brittana. I don’t know if Sam is gay or not. I thought he was for a long time, but maybe they did change their minds. But if he HAS been de-gayed, I don’t approve of that. I do however like the fact that he could be a straight jock that is okay with gay people.
